Especially well-known for their desserts, this is a great place to come for coffee and dessert to cap off a night out, or for a lighter meal because you want to save room for something sweet at the end of it all. Enjoy such masterpieces as Khalua cheesecake which can barely contain the 1kilogram of chocolate within and the other kilogram that adorns it. Or how about the apple pie? Made with maple caramel, this pie is packed with six kilos of ripe and delicious apples. Though the dessert offerings do change regularly some of these favourites are must haves and are regular offerings. The large display case typically shows off about 25 different sorts of cakes that are served with coulis or fresh fruit plus lemon meringue pie made with a whopping 12 egg yolks for a topping that is impressive to behold.
Stick to Your Ribs
Five different main courses are offered daily. You’ll always find a mussel option, a steak choice, pasta, a big salad meal for those who prefer the lighter side of things, and a stew or braised meat option reminiscent of a country meal. The portions are more than satisfying. A sampling option gives you a choice of three dishes which might include puff pastry with wild mushroom or asparagus with brie cheese in a cream red wine sauce and always comes with soup and salad and an appetizer. This is a nice way to indulge without overdoing so you still have room for dessert. A huge selection of coffees including some from Kenya and Hawaii are served in a bodum at your table so you can enjoy whenever you’re ready. In fact, the coffee menu here is larger than at many coffee shops.
