Profile Last Updated: April 22, 2009
Located on tony Sussex drive, Poised offers the high-end clothes befitting its location, but with a decidedly kooky feel. Exclusive fashion lines offer a choice of looks and feels from dressy “night out” wear, to the best garden party getups available. Described as a boutique for 30-plus women who aren’t ready to put on their flats, Poised is the place to shop for the fashionista who may not necessarily need something to wear out to the clubs.
International Lines
Fashions from all over Europe vie with local wears as designers from Italy, Germany, France, and Canada compete for rack space. Among the high-end name brands available, the store exclusively carries Alberto Makali’s casual wear. Abstract, floral, and animal prints decorate the finest fabrics, with sexy yet sensible results.
It’s All in the Accessories
Looking for some original one of a kind jewellery? Poised has it. Truly funky designer necklaces, earrings, rings, and other “bling” decorate a glass display case presenting the works of Canadian designers. Each piece of work is a one-off original, bringing its colourful fashion statement exclusively to the wearer. They are a perfect complement to the fashions on display, many of which reside outside of the conservative category and head into the realm of the colourful and funky.
Sussex Style
At $150 and up, the fashions at Poised befit their Sussex Drive location, and are aimed at a more mature, financially comfortable crowd. As such, they have had opportunities to promote their wares in local fashion, and charitable extravaganzas such as a fundraiser for Nelson House, which assists abused women and children.
