Pinecrest Pool
At Pinecrest Recreation Centre, the kids will enjoy the Tarzan rope and multiple water toys. Swimming lessons are offered for children preschool aged and up as well as for teens and adults. There are also advanced courses and a lifeguard training program. Public swimming keeps the facility busy on a regular basis. Pinecrest Recreation Centre offers a masters’ swimming program, which is a fitness-oriented swimming program where a coach provides pointers and directs a workout.
Barbara Ann Scott Arena
The arena in Pinecrest Recreation Centre is named after Barbara Ann Scott, the world and Olympic figure skating champion. The arena is busy with figure skating, public skating and kids’ competitive hockey. Public skating sessions may be cancelled at the last minute, so it is a good idea to call ahead and check with the arena. There are plenty of change rooms for both the arena and swimming pool. There is also a small cardio weight room for those looking for a good workout.
Rent the Facilities
If you’re planning a special event, the Pinecrest Recreation Centre may provide the answer. Both the pool area and arena are available for group rentals. Room rentals are also possible for parties or private functions. Call ahead as there are plenty of options to explore with the knowledgeable staff. The best way to stay on top of activities is to obtain a printed program. New ones come out every spring and fall.
