A Beautiful Spot
Situated alongside the Rideau River, New Edinburgh Park is not far from downtown. It offers an abundance of wildlife, such as turtles, muskrats, herons and more. There is plenty of shoreline access for fishing. Porter Island is visible from the shore. You can launch a canoe here, although it does require the visitor to carry it a fair distance from the parking area. A bike path is another option for those who want to take in this urban fishing spot.

Year Round Outdoor Activities
New Edinburgh Park is home to The Lumière Festival. You can experience the magic of seeing thousands of colourful handmade lanterns all walking the same route. The flickering lights appear magical. New Edinburgh Park is equipped with facilities that keep residents busy year round. During the summer there are tennis courts and baseball diamonds. For the sports-minded in winter, there is an outdoor skating rink. There are playground facilities available to keep active children busy in a safe environment. Washrooms are available in a park building when it is open for park programs. Bus transportation provides easy access but parking is limited.

A World Class Vision
Friends of New Edinburgh Park Committee formed in 1999 with the vision of turning the park into a world class location. Today, some 500 volunteers work on various initiatives to ensure that takes place. Clean-up programs and working with conservationists ensure the park’s future remains positive.
