Heading out to the mountains? Looking for a pair of cramp-ons that won't cramp your wallet? Look no further than Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC). Selling mostly their own name brand clothing, outdoor gear and accessories, MEC has the products and services to meet the needs of any outdoor enthusiast from sunglasses to kayaks and beyond.
Outdoor Lovers Unite
MEC also serves as a posting place for kayaking trips, hiking groups, training sessions, tips and special events. With the wealth of outdoor activities happening in the area, it's good to know that someone is keeping track.
Membership Has Its Advantages
This not-for-profit, member-owned and directed retail consumer cooperative was formed in 1971 by a group of Vancouver mountaineers eager to find good equipment at a more reasonable price. Any outdoor-lover is welcome to join up as a MEC member, which provides insight into products and the organization itself, as well as special privileges on events and products.
Fact: MEC has excellent quality, sturdy backpacks for school or hiking.
