Irish Pub
Part of the Irish Village/Heart and Crown grouping of restaurants located in the Byward Market, Mother McGintey's is a great place for a liquid lunch, after-work drinks and early evening suppers. In addition to the regular pub fare, the kitchen offers daily lunch specials from hearty soups and sandwiches to the house specialty clam chowder. Dinner features a choice of salads, thin-crust pizzas, pasta, pork chops and steak. Dinner specials include prime rib on Friday and Saturday evenings only.

Would You Like a Drink?
But the star of Mother McGintey’s is the range of beers from the British Isles including Guinness, of course, but also many lesser-known Irish brands. Seven Irish whiskeys and a dozen single malt scotches, some that have been aged 14 years and one with a pedigree of 16 years, offer a special touch to any evening.

Sip, Mingle and Sing Along
Along with its sister restaurant on the floor below, The Black Rose, Mother McGintey’s tries to live up to the spirit of the original Mother McGuinty’s (sic) Pub. That establishment was a landmark of Ottawa in the 19th century and the proprietor was known as a tough, but fair woman who could hold her own in a rough town. Today a much more refined wait staff will serve you a cold draft beer or pour you a perfect Guinness or maybe a small glass of Bushmills as you chat amiably on one of three summer patios. Live Irish and Celtic entertainment on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights will have you tapping, dancing and singing along until the wee hours of the morning.
