Part of the ByWard Market Scene
Live Lounge was created by Ottawa radio station Live 88.5. It has turned into a happening spot that features the same type of independent rock and alternative music the station has become known for. The lounge features some of the newest up-and-coming talent in the music industry and numerous local bands looking for that big break. Located in the ByWard Market neighbourhood, Live Lounge adds to the vibrancy in the area that attracts thousands to the busy nightlife.

All About Live Local Music
Live Lounge is all about live local music. Bands that appear here get an extra boost from the radio station. They receive feature promotion on the radio station and a live multi-tracked recording of the show. The interior of the lounge quickly gets everyone in the mood. Wednesdays feature open mic nights. Feature bands are brought in Friday night and usually require a ticket in advance. Saturday night hops with a live-air-DJ at the club and on-air at the rock alternative radio station.

“The Big Money Shot”
“The Big Money Shot.”, is a popular battle of the bands that annually awards tens of thousands of dollars to the competition winner and competitors. It attracts a lot of interest from local acts looking for a break in the competitive music industry. The prize money can help advance their careers or help out with equipment or recordings. The involvement of a radio station doesn’t hurt either, adding to the level of exposure the groups can achieve.
