Gallery founder Guy Bérubé was looking for a way to blend craft and production, as well as art and design. But more importantly, he wanted his gallery to bridge together mainstream and “outsider” art. With a name that’s nothing short of risqué, La Petite Mort is a gallery dedicated to art and high-class furniture created by local artists. The list of artists featured at La Petite Mort is constantly growing. There’s a focus on local artists, but international works are available too.
The Experimental, the New and the Odd
The gallery offers monthly exhibitions that showcase either solo artists or groups. The large basement also holds an inventory of work. La Petite Mort is always looking to showcase the experimental, the new and the odd. There are no rules at this gallery. Since its opening in October 2005, it has stayed on the daring side of the art world. The gallery can also be rented out for private functions. What better way to add artistic and eclectic flair to your event?
Not Your Typical Gallery
Part of the gallery is the experience. Coming in to La Petite Mort gallery is not like walking into any store: instead, the gallery has a casual lounge feel. Swing by and enjoy the unique décor. And don’t be shy: you’ll never know which pieces are for sale and which are permanent fixtures unless you ask.
