You Again
Regulars are the backbone of Irene’s clientele during the week, whether they’re seated at the wooden bar up front (complete with hooks for your coat, essential during Ottawa’s winters) chatting up the bartender while sipping a pint, or enjoying a game of pool in the back. In the warmer months, those in the know migrate to Irene’s secluded patio, tucked in between buildings with no street traffic noise to disturb your philosophical musings over a pitcher or two with friends.

Rock this Town
Thursdays through Saturdays, Irene’s is all about the music – mostly local acts of the rock, blues and country variety. Thursday nights the pub hosts a blues open stage and Saturday afternoons, up-and-coming musicians can join in the acoustic open stage. The band schedule is posted on a chalkboard at the front of the pub; there’s a live band every Saturday night and most Fridays as well. Cover charge is nominal.

Just Like Mom Makes
Irene's menu is chockfull of old pub standbys: fish and chips, liver and onions, zucchini, chicken fingers, club sandwiches, jalapeno poppers, poutine and nachos all go nicely with your beer. Their burgers are fire-grilled and the salads are full of green goodness. Try the daily lunch and dinner specials if you’re in the mood for something more substantial. There’s also a weekend brunch menu.

Drink Up
With 16 beers on tap, Irene's selection of draft beer is unlikely to disappoint. House red and white wines go nicely with a meal; a full bar ensures your favorite cocktail is only a moment away. A selection of premium Scotches are great for after dinner or a cold afternoon.
