No matter how one gets there the first thing they’ll notice at Ikea is not only its shockingly blue corrugated steel exterior, but the series of red, blue and yellow vertical flags. Once shoppers have grabbed their oversized and oddly functional shopping bag they’re off through Ikea’s initially unimposing labyrinth of model rooms showcasing the literally endless range of Scandinavian chic and practical household products that have made Ikea so famous.
Get Chic, Cheap
Sofas, beds, tables, dressers, bureaus, desks, chairs, bookshelves, cabinets, kitchen counters, laundry hampers, lamps, curtains, cushions, rugs, quilts, bed sheets, forks, knives, plates, cups, saucers, benches, plant pots – and that’s just a list of the products with names that start with the letter ”A” in Swedish, from Adele to Ärta. What makes it all even sweeter is that due to the warehouse system and do-it-yourself nature of Ikea’s furniture products, the prices at Ikea are kept miraculously low, thus solidifying its reputation with those who want chic for relatively cheap.
Daunted? Don’t Be
Shoppers should take their time browsing and don’t need to pack a lunch – pretty well anything one’s heart desires can be found in the Ikea Café for half the price or less than what it would cost elsewhere. Featuring a breakfast special so inexpensive one would not be amiss to wonder: Do I have to prepare it myself?
