Open since 2002, the Highlander Pub recreates the authentic look and feel of a traditional Scottish pub, with a few modern touches. A shining black lacquer bar with brass accents, cheery red plaid curtains, high ceilings, exposed brick walls and a cozy gas fireplace all add to the ambience. The secluded booths are great for a quiet drink, or choose a big convivial table for a night out with the gang.
Hearty Fare For All
This lengthy and comforting menu is filled with both Scottish and North American delicacies. Begin with wings, zucchini, stuffed mushrooms or onion rings. Move on to bangers and mash, fish and chips, or traditional Scottish “bridies” – seasoned ground beef wrapped in flaky pastry. You can have haggis if you like or perhaps a curry of chicken or lamb. Lighter fare includes burgers, sandwiches and even pizza. Vegetarians can enjoy the grilled vegetable salad or an order of bruschetta.
Single Malts
No Scottish pub would be complete without a taste of Scotland’s most famous export, Scotch whiskey, and the Highlander Pub is no exception. Connoisseurs can choose from well over a hundred different varieties of single malt whiskies, all imported from one of Scotland’s many distilleries (there’s a map on the back of the menu). That’s enough choice to allow you to talk Scotch with the bartender all evening. If Scotch isn’t quite your thing, choose from one of a dozen beers on tap, enjoy a glass of wine, or select one of the Highlander’s martinis.
