Camping in Gatineau Park is both an inexpensive way to visit Ottawa and nearby attractions, and a great way to take a break from the bustle and heat of the city. Lac Philippe is especially designed for family camping and has all the amenities you might want, plus a friendly nature setting the kids will love. Although there are no electrical hook-ups, each campsite comes complete with a picnic table, fireplace and parking spot. A convenience store will provide anything you may forget and showers and outdoor water taps complete the amenities. On site rentals give campers access to bikes, canoes or kayaks. A special nature interpretation program is designed to help you discover nature in a fun, informative way; because the program changes annually it could easily become part of something you and your family enjoy year after year.
Hit the Beach
Lac Philippe is perfect for swimmers. One beach, set within the camping area, tends to be typically for campers. Two other beaches just outside the camping area are accessible to everyone and can be busier on those hot summer days. Supervised from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. from the end of June through Labour Day, these beaches are a great way to cool off and enjoy nature at its finest.
Lusk Caves
Just half an hour from Lac Philippe are the Lusk Caves, a treasure worth investigating, whether you’re here for a day or a weekend. With natural running water, visitors should dress to get wet and wear helmets for safety. No Drinking
As a designated family campground, alcohol is strictly prohibited. Call Ahead Weekends tend to book quickly but weekday availability can be good.
