Tons of Hiking Trails
Located about 40 kilometres north of Kingston, Frontenac Provincial Park boasts 160 kilometres of looping and connecting trails. Trails vary in length and do not all begin from the same point so there are endless possibilities for return visitors. The Frontenac Provincial Park is accessible year-round with activities ranging from hiking and fishing to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and winter camping.
Winter Wonderland
Although there are no groomed cross-country trails, all of the parks trails, including the main road which is closed for winter but are accessible to skiers, hikers and snowshoers. The Frontenac Park boasts 48 interior campsites, which are available for winter camping, as well as emergency cache drums that are regularly stocked and maintained. Interior campsites are accessible by foot only. RVs, cars or tent trailers are not permitted.
Sensational Summers
Hiking is by far the most popular summer activity at Frontenac Provincial Park. Fishing (with a valid license) is also a favourite. Motorboats, mountain bikes, ATVs and the like are not permitted in the park or on the lakes. Several small sandy beaches provide peaceful swimming spots but be aware that lifeguards are not posted anywhere in the park. Help is not readily accessible in the park and mobile service is unreliable, so exercise caution and good sense and make sure someone knows your itinerary.
