Dunn’s For All
This company was started by Myer Dunn in Montreal in 1927 and the name soon became synonymous with the Canadian deli experience. The main location in downtown Ottawa takes up close to half a block of Elgin street real estate. You would have a hard time missing the large neon sign announcing its presence. Step inside and you’re transported into a Montreal deli with the walls decorated with period photographs and various memorabilia.

Smoked Meat to Stay
The menu starts off with Dunn’s famous smoked meat sandwiches. Smoked is the meat that made Dunn’s famous, but in true deli style there are options of all beef salami, chopped liver, smoked turkey breast and roast beef. There are also six different kinds of club sandwiches from which to choose and an appetizer menu which includes deli staples like blintzes, latkes, and verenekes. Feeling like more of a meal? The generous menu includes everything from steaks to burgers to souvlaki and spaghetti. For dessert, their famed massive cheesecake is a particular treat.

Smoked Meat to Go
Take the taste to go. This location has a counter specifically devoted to take out orders with a large menu of large sandwiches and everything else. The counter is open 24 hours, seven days a wee, and delivery is free within the restaurant’s two kilometre radius.

Little Dunn’s
Dunn’s on Queen is a smaller version of its big brother with a more limited menu and hours that cater to the downtown breakfast and lunch crowd. A deli counter stretches the length of the restaurant’s first half, and tables of four are scattered throughout. Breakfast specials come quick and cheap. ’40s pop tunes, the likes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin play in the background as you participate in the small town diner feel.
