Dovercourt Recreation Centre is a popular community centre in central Ottawa that offers swimming, a fitness centre, an aerobics program and a number of general interest courses for children and adults. Using the pool is both fun and affordable for families at Dovercourt. The schedule allows a number of groups to enjoy a dip and is open for laps as early as 6:30 a.m. some days.
Busy Kids are Happy Kids
Dovercourt offers a number of summer camps for children that appeal to a variety of interests. Choices include one and two-week all day art camps, pottery camps and drama camps. Children can also enjoy tennis lessons during the early part of the summer and swimming all year round. For more creative interests, pottery classes are offered at three age levels: five to seven year olds, seven to 10 year olds and eight to 12-year-olds.
Courses and Clubs
Dovercourt is one of a number of city facilities that offer adult walking clubs. Dovercourt's walking club is geared toward rehabilitation and offers a safe, fun way to recover strength while meeting other people with similar injuries and experiences. Gentle aerobics classes are also available for those with moderate fitness requirements. Also on the schedule are classes like Sporty Moms, cardio kickboxing, ballroom dancing, and wellness classes.
