The Dominion Tavern has been around in its present incarnation since 1994. They offer a good selection of microbrews on tap, along with quarts, regular bottles, and of course, good old-fashioned hard liquor. The music is mostly garage/punk with a bit of ska and other genres thrown in for good measure. No top 40 or pop.
Complete with a Homey Rec Room
For those who would like to do more than drink, talk and listen to music, they also have a couple of pools tables, a dartboard, cribbage and other distractions. Out back is a hidden patio that feels like home. It features mini picnic tables that can be moved around, and a large tree provides shade. Although a little cool in the winter, this patio is perfect for a summer evening in The Market.
From Goth To Garth
Music lovers will enjoy the wide spectrum of genres – college bands, punk, alternative, and rockabilly are played at the bar. Even a few country songs have been played for those Garth and Shania fans. With such a wide variety of musical tastes, the crowd at the Dominion is just as eclectic. The music at the Dominion can be loud, very loud. If the noise becomes too much inside, head out to the patio for some fresh air and a little peace and quiet.
Wheelchair accessible: Yes
Tip: This is the eclectic, less traditional version of an Ottawa ‘Cheers’. Chances are if you walk into this place a few times; they’ll know your name.
