Watch the experts as they produce one of Canada's best loved treats: maple sugar. The highlight of Domaine de L'Ange Gardien is its sugar shack, complete with antique tools. You can watch maple sap boil in a traditional evaporator, and see how maple syrup is made, from the tree to the table. The sugar shack is open for tours year-round by reservation, but come between March and April to see the taps in action.
Don't Forget Your Toque
Children – and those young at heart – will love the many winter activities on-site. Take a lift to the top of the highest hills, then work up an appetite tubing and sliding back down. The whole family will enjoy a horse-pulled sleigh ride on the snow. For the more sporty-minded, bring your cross-country skis or snowshoes and hit the wooded trails. There's plenty to do for the whole family.
Music and Maple
Visit the licensed hall for a hot meal after a cold day outside. Try some baked beans, pancakes, pork sausages, maple ham, sugar pie, or even some maple taffy on snow. And of course, you can top everything off with maple syrup produced right on-site. On Saturday evenings, enjoy a night of karaoke. And don't forget to bring something home: there are plenty of gifts and souvenirs for purchase, including maple butter, jelly, syrup, caramel and gift baskets.
Plenty To Do in the Summer, Too
Perfect for retreats, class trips, or large functions, the main hall can accommodate 200 people. In the summer, the wooded and snowy trails become a well-maintained, full-service campground that the whole family will enjoy.
