Come Experience the Real Deal
D’Arcy McGee’s first came to Ottawa in 1996 and settled in at this Sparks Street location. Like the rest of D’Arcy McGee’s, the pub area is more than what you would expect. With an Irish inspired interior design and a fun filled authentic charm, this location is just steps away from where the real Thomas D’Arcy McGee (the Irish-born Father of Confederation) was assassinated. One look at the bar, which was actually handcrafted in Ireland and then shipped to Canada, and you will know that you’ve come to the real deal.

More than Your Average PubAlthough D’Arcy’s is famous for their Irish fare, offering wonderful, hearty dishes like the Guinness Steak and Mushroom Crock, Finnegan’s Fry and the meat pastry Buncrana Birdie. A brilliant chef, now part of the family here, is continually expanding the menu to bring more global influence and flavour. Desserts are also more than you might expect, including the traditional bread pudding, but also mixing in such temptations as the irresistible Tinker Tower. This chocolate chip cookie sandwich is filled with ice cream and covered with chocolate fudge and caramel sauce. But, don’t forget to enjoy flights of beer, which are samples of the ales and lagers you’ve always wanted to try, and table service for bottles of liquor – pure Ireland. A table shares the bottle of their choice, with sodas and ice on the side so you can mix them the way you like. Retro cocktails are all the rage and in ample supply here, as well.

Spectacular Sights
Summer at D’Arcy’s is spectacular, with an outdoor patio that wraps around both Elgin and Sparks Street. From this 60-seat locale, people-watching takes on a whole new meaning as you take in the War Memorial, the famous Chateau Laurier, or the foot traffic along Sparks. With 20-foot-wide sidewalks and clear skies above, this is a patio you must experience on a steamy summer night.
