Having been in the city since 1967, Colonnade has long been one of Ottawa's favourite restaurants and can even be found in some popular travel guides as a great place to eat. This family-friendly pizzeria is a great place to go for a casual night out, with a date, the family or a big group of friends. The atmosphere is lively and relaxed, giving patrons the feel of a cozy sit-down meal at home. If a sit-down meal at home is exactly what you want, Colonnade does offer take-out that you can pick up from the restaurant.
Legendary Pizza
Colonnade's great pizza is what really makes this restaurant what it is. Although a little on the pricey side for pizza, you get what you pay for as the chefs don't skimp out on anything, especially the cheese. Stocked with a variety of fresh ingredients, Colonnade offers several combination pizzas such as meat lover's, vegetarian, Mediterranean, pizza burger and the Colonnade Special, composed of sweet red peppers, sautéed onions, broccoli and Virginia ham. The menu also offers appetizers, sandwiches, healthy salads, Italian entrées and several pasta dishes, prepared by the same chefs that made the Colonnade famous for its food. To complement the main courses, there is a wine menu with a few select red and white wines, as well as cocktails, spirits and domestic and imported beer available with proof of age.
Details
Take a break: Cafe Colonnade seems a little tucked away, but is really at the centre of the action. A few blocks from many downtown tourist points, it's a great place to take a break from the sight-seeing.
Big group: They have the facilities; so bring a huge group of friends if you want to! But call in advance to give some them warning.
Tip: Call ahead for reservations on weekends or if you have a big group because it tends to get busy.
