A Relaxing Park Since 1907
The City of Ottawa maintains more than 10,000 hectares of forests and has more than 890 parks, grounds and public places where residents can play, run and relax. Central Park in The Glebe officially opened in 1907 and provides a quiet escape from bustling Bank Street. The park is south of the Queensway and Centretown and has two sections, Central Park East and West divided by Bank Street. The park follows Patterson Creek which goes to the Rideau Canal.

The Home for Art in the Park
Art in the Park is a non-commercial, non-profit arts festival held each summer in Central Park. In the first year, there was a collection of 20 artists and a few musicians in the park. Now more than 300 visual artists, along with musicians, actors, dancers and drummers perform all day. This outdoor family event is free. Art in the Park has become one of the regions foremost outdoor art events.

A Pleasant Walk, Shopping and Stately Homes
Central Park provides the visitor with a pleasant walk. Since it takes in both sides of Bank Street in the Glebe, there is an opportunity to do a little shopping or perhaps grab a bite for lunch or dinner. There are plenty of quality shops and dining establishments nearby. As your walk continues through park you’ll find sections surrounded by stately homes. The route that follows Patterson Creek provides shade to relax on park benches.
