Hands-on Science and Tech Fun
Visitors can learn about past and present science and technology through this museum's many hands-on, interactive exhibitions, demonstrations, guided tours and workshops. Indoor and outdoor exhibition areas show computers, communication and space technology, energy experiments, model ships, working periscopes and a lot more. A visit to the museum will allow the visitor to push buttons, turn dials and pull levers to experience science and technology first-hand! So Many Exhibits, So Little Time!
Visitors can experience a different perspective thanks to the "Beyond the Trees" exhibition. The truly adventurous can take a virtual ride into space in the SIMEX Virtual Voyages Simulator (for an extra fee).
Learning is Fun
The museum also features an inflatable planetarium and an observatory with Canada's largest refracting telescope, both used in the many astronomy programs available to the public (call the museum to register). There is also an on-site library for those doing research projects, with over 75,000 items to choose from. The museum also has its own research branch where staff are constantly exploring how science and technology affect the world around us. Staff produce several reports and studies each year.
