Tired of Hotels? Why not try the Rose on Colonel By Bed and Breakfast. It is a beautiful restored Edwardian home, built in 1925. It offers an artful blend of elegance and homey atmosphere at an affordable price. The American and French Embassies leased this home for nine years. Throughout the entire b & b there are over 30 leaded glass windows on the ground floor, all surrounded by gleaming oak and fitted with restored brass hardware. The guest dining room boasts eight of these glass windows. All of the brass fittings have been restored and there is a beautiful 1920's Cranberry and brass chandelier hanging overhead as you eat your breakfast.
The Amenities
The three guest rooms can accommodate up to 10 people. The Rose on Colonel By boasts a stunning dining room that is absolutely charming. The entire guest floor is at your disposal. It also offers a lounge, fully equipped with a microwave, guest telephone, library and refrigerator. Each room contains a hotel quality mattress and ceiling fan. Each room also has its own private ensuite bathroom.
Added Benefits
This b & b serves a full breakfast every morning and goodies from the bakery on Sundays. The Rose on Colonel By is conveniently located within walking distance to Carleton University and is a five-minute drive to the Parliament Buildings. It is just steps from the Rideau Canal, the world's largest skating rink; in the winter thousands enjoy skating for miles through the city.
