Breathtaking View
Jacques Cartier Park is located on the sprawling banks of the Ottawa River, east of the Alexandra Bridge along Laurier Street. The large park offers a series of trails and interpretative exhibits and provides a beautiful view of downtown Gatineau, Ottawa and the Rideau Falls. The park is also connected to Leamy Lake and Gatineau River, which provides an endless list of water activities. In the core of the park you will discover Maison Charron, a heritage house that offers a unique cultural experience by local authors. You can also enjoy a meal and refreshments while contemplating a spectacular view of Parliament Hill. At the end of Laurier Street, you can rent bicycles from Maison du Vélo, and then ride the Capital Pathway towards the beautiful lakeside. During the winter, the park looks nothing short of a winter wonderland. In the warmer months, various sports events and festivals make Jacques Cartier Park a fun family destination.

Festivals and Events
With its large area and beautiful open space, the National Capital Commission uses the park for several events. These include family-friendly Canada Day celebrations, the Canadian Tulip Festival, as well as Winterlude. For the winter festival, the park is transformed into “Snowflake Kingdom” and features large ice slides, activities for children and the annual snow sculpting competition. The park is also home to one of only three disc golf courses in Ottawa. Whether it be planned events like festivals and performances, or impromptu sports games, Jacques Cartier Park is a beautiful place to spend the day.
